We enter our term for learning and reciting Scots poetry, the term when we all too readily recognise Burns’ lines from Tam O’Shanter,
“The wind blew as ‘twad blawn its last;
The rattling showers rose on the blast;”
Yet, the vagaries of snow notwithstanding, we enter a term unusually short when it seems all too soon we’ll be welcoming “spring bringing back her gentle warmth.” A term just 10 weeks long, a term traditionally involving us not only in poetry recitation but which also begins class Science Festival events and sees our P.7s spend a week at Benmore centre. Also this term we’re beginning our focus on “how to be a better learner” with a whole school target to improve mental maths. (Your thoughts? Some answers and results to follow.)
